Hand Stripping

Hand stripping is a gentle, specialist grooming technique that’s perfect for certain wire-haired and silky-coated breeds, like Border Terriers, Wire-Haired Dachshunds, and Spaniels. It’s a great way to keep their coat healthy, looking its best, and full of natural texture.

Instead of clipping, hand stripping removes the dead outer coat by hand, letting fresh, healthy hair grow through. This helps keep the coat in top condition, maintain its natural colour and texture, and protect the skin underneath.

Every dog’s coat is different, so the look you get depends on how much coat there is, the undercoat’s length and density, and your dog’s natural coat type. When you bring your dog in, I’ll take a close look and chat with you about what we can achieve together.
